Candlewood Classic

Using the vintage CGA Tour logo, the Candlewood Classic is the second and final Major Event of the season. Winner receives engraved perpetual wooden plaque trophy, money, exemption status, and season points.

  • 1 round, in-person/virtual net stroke play event with handicaps hosted at Richter Park every year

  • Everyone playing in-person plays from same tees (white tees)

    • Virtual players must play a pre-approved course with similar length, slope/rating as Richter Park’s white tees

  • There will be no playoffs or ties in the result of players ending with the same net score

    • All ties will be ended using the 18birdies calculated “Auto Tiebreaker Standard Method”

      • Winner is determined by the best net score for the last 9 holes, then the last 6 holes, then the last 3 holes, then the last 18 holes.

CGA Teams Championship

  • Teams playoffs - winning team splits championship prize evenly

  • Top 3 teams in points at the end of the regular season make the playoffs (CGA Teams Championship)

    • 1 seed gets a 1st round bye

    • If there is a tie for any place at the end of the regular season, tiebreaker goes to the team that finished higher for The Chatterton Championship

      • If still tied, next tiebreaker is the results for The Slice, followed by The Icons Invitational, etc

  • Each team’s score for each event are the 3 best individual net scores from each team added together

    • Tiebreaker is the 4th best individual net scores from each team

  • Semifinals and Finals aligned with the same dates as the individual CGA Tour Championship Quarterfinals and Semifinals

CGA Tour Championship

  • Individual playoffs - winner receives money and exemption status - 2nd place receives money only

  • 1v1 bracket-style single-elimination tournament with handicaps and course-adjusted handicaps. One round net stroke play.

    • Based on end of regular season individual leaderboard 

      • Top 6 qualify. Top 2 get first round bye

        • If there is a tie for any place at the end of the regular season, tiebreaker goes to the player that finished higher for The Chatterton Championship

  • Opponents each round should do their best to coordinate their rounds to be in-person to play together. If playing in-person is not possible, try to still do the same day and time with courses similar in slope, rating, and yardage.

  • There will be no playoffs or ties in the result of players ending with the same net score

    • All ties will be ended using the 18birdies calculated “Auto Tiebreaker Standard Method”

      • Winner is determined by the best net score for the last 9 holes, then the last 6 holes, then the last 3 holes, then the last 18 holes.

  • Final 4 earn captaincy for next year’s CGA Teams

Rebel Cup

The Rebel Cup is a Ryder Cup style team event. Players on the winning team receive medals and season points.

  • First 3 rounds of the annual golf trip

  • 2 teams are drafted each year using a snake draft format

    • Team captains are the MVPs from the previous year’s Rebel Cup

    • Tee flip before draft. Winner of tee flip gets to pick if he wants 1st or 2nd pick

  • 3 round, in-person match play event with handicaps and strokes

    • Round 1 -Two 9-hole 2v2 matches (can be scramble or best ball)

    • Round 2 - Two 9-hole 2v2 matches (can be scramble or best ball)

    • Round 3 - Two 9-hole 1v1 matches 

    • Points:

      • Win: 1

      • Draw: .5

      • Loss: 0

  • All pairings are set separately by each captain before each round

    • Matchups will be blind based on order of pairings set by each captain

    • Pairing partners on each team cannot be the same for rounds 1 & 2

  • Everyone plays from same tees

  • Strokes are awarded and played off of the lowest handicap in each matchup

    • All decimal handicaps round up or down. .5 difference rounds up.

  • If tied at the end of the final round, a tiebreaker playoff on a practice green will decide the winning team

    • Players from each team will match up in order of their handicaps (low to high)

    • Closest to the pin contest with each matchup (starting with the low handicap matchup and ending with the high handicap matchup)

      • Each matchup will agree on either a putt or a chip from a specific spot

      • Tee flip for each matchup to see who goes first

        • Players who go second each matchup cannot watch shot but can see where the ball comes to rest to know what they have to beat

    • If still tied at the end of the matchups, 1 sudden death closest to the pin contest will decide the winner

      • 1 person from each team (can be anyone)

      • Tee flip for who goes first

        • Player who goes second cannot watch shot but can see where the ball comes to rest

  • 1 MVP from each team is decided after the event is over. MVPs are automatically the point leaders from each team. If a tie, everyone will vote for that team’s MVP.
