Weekend Recap 4/12/26
CGA Tour — THE PRIMETIME Championship (2026)
Weekend Recap 4/12/26: New Contenders Enter the Mix
The leaderboard is starting to take shape.
After the opening weekend set the tone, two more players stepped up to post their rounds for THE PRIMETIME Championship—shaking up the standings and adding a new layer of intrigue heading into the heart of the event.
Rutkey Impresses in Debut, Jumps to Second
All eyes were on rookie Casey Rutkey making his CGA Tour debut—and he didn’t disappoint.
Rutkey posted a strong net +2 at Umstead Pines on Sunday, immediately slotting into 2nd place behind Ryan Grimaldi. For a first-ever tournament round, it was a confident and aggressive showing.
His round had plenty of firepower:
Net eagles on holes 6 and 18
Net birdies on holes 2, 9, and 15
That kind of scoring ability is what keeps you near the top of a leaderboard.
But like most debut rounds, it came with some volatility.
Rutkey recorded:
Net bogeys on 3, 8, 11, 13, and 16
Net double bogeys on 10 and 14
Clean up just a couple of those mistakes, and we’re potentially talking about a round threatening even par—or better.
Still, stepping in and immediately taking 2nd place?
That’s a statement.
Palardy Battles Through Tough Day at Saxon Woods
Matt Palardy also got his round in on Sunday at Saxon Woods, and it was a grind from start to finish.
Palardy showed flashes of solid play:
Net birdies on holes 9, 10, and 16
But the scorecard tells the story of a round that never quite found its rhythm.
He struggled with:
Net bogeys on 1, 3, 5, 11, 15, and 18
Net double bogeys on 2, 6, 7, and 8
Net triple bogeys on 12 and 14
The biggest storyline? The putter.
Using a new flatstick, Palardy clearly had trouble on the greens, and it showed up across multiple holes. Whether it’s speed control, confidence, or just getting comfortable with the new feel, it’s an area that will need quick adjustment if he wants to climb the standings.
Leaderboard Update
With two more rounds in, the pressure continues to build:
Ryan Grimaldi — E
Casey Rutkey — +2
Kyle Monroe — +4
Mike Remley — +7
Jake Cleary — +9
Matt Palardy — +17
Looking Ahead
We’re no longer waiting for the tournament to start—we’re in it.
Rutkey’s debut has immediately tightened things at the top, while Palardy’s round serves as a reminder of how quickly things can get away from you in tournament play.
Grimaldi still holds the lead—but now, there’s real pressure behind him.
More rounds are coming.
The question is simple:
Who’s next to make a move?
The 2026 season is heating up.
